Represent my Community

Champion Small Businesses

Connect Us All

I am committed to building our community through representing the people of Ward 3, championing small businesses in Lincoln, and connecting the people, businesses and service groups that work together to make the Town of Lincoln a strong, resilient and caring community.

As Councillor for Ward 3, my focus is on:

  • continuing to build strong relationships in Lincoln,  across West Niagara, and throughout the Region to support the initiatives that will move us forward as a community
  • championing our local businesses to enable ongoing economic growth
  • connecting you with the people, services, municipal/regional departments and resources that you need

As the Executive Director of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce for 4 years, I had the opportunity to work closely with a wide variety of local business owners and community leaders - to hear, understand and address their concerns and challenges, and to help them navigate the sometimes complex landscape of dealing with municipal, regional, provincial and federal governments and programs.

As a member of the Rotary Club of Lincoln and the Library Board, I recognize that we need to work collaboratively with our local service groups to enable them to bring their skills, dedication and commitment into the forefront of building a vibrant community that supports programming and resources for our youth, families, individuals and seniors.

I look forward to being able to leverage my skills and experience in representing Ward 3, championing local businesses and connecting you with the resources you need to thrive as you live, work, and serve our community here in Lincoln.

Working in our Community

I have had the privilege of raising my family and working in the Town of Lincoln for over 30 years.  Schools, swimming, library programs, sports, church, friends, jobs, volunteering - Lincoln is an integral part of the experiences that shaped who we are.

I returned to school as a mature student in 2011, earning my MBA with a double minor in Accounting & Finance and in Management from McMaster's DeGroote School of Business while continuing to work full time.

My work experience in a broad range of roles, including Executive Director of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and my current role as Director of Finance for a local not-for-profit organization means that I bring a strong set of skills, experience and qualifications to the role of your representative for Ward 3 at Lincoln Town Hall.

Working for our Community

I have had the honour of working with many dedicated volunteers on community projects, and have seen first hand their generosity with their time, energy, and talents. They have taught me valuable lessons in continuous learning, diplomacy, innovation, and integrity, and I am committed to continuing to put those lessons into practice through ongoing service to our community.

who does what?

Many people aren't sure who to go to when they have a question, need help, or want to resolve an issue.  Here's a quick list of who does what for your reference:

Town of Lincoln

This is the municipal government; the level of government that's closest to us and deals directly with community concerns such as parks, libraries, local business development, and local streets and neighbourhoods.

Your Ward Councillor's responsibilities include:

  • Connecting with and listening to the members of their Ward, representing them and bringing their interests forward to Council
  • Participating in discussions/debates and making decisions regarding by-laws, policies and proposed projects in council and committee meetings
  • Balancing their response to their constituent's concerns with the best interests of the municipality as a whole

Niagara Region

The Town of Lincoln is one of 12 municipalities tat for the Regional Municipality of Niagara, and is represented at that level by the Mayor and 1 elected Regional Councillor.  A portion of our property taxes go to fund this level of government.

The regional government is responsible for issues that affect the region as a whole, including:

  • inter-municipal transit
  • regional roads (i.e. Jordan Rd., Victoria Ave., Ontario St. King St., Mountain Rd., etc.)
  • garbage & recycling management
  • public health

Ontario

The Town of Lincoln is represented at the provincial level by the Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding of Niagara West.  The provincial government is responsible for issues that affect the province as a whole, like education, health care, the environment, agriculture and highways.

Canada

The Town of Lincoln is represented at the federal level by the Member of Parliament for the riding of Niagara West. The federal government is responsible for issues that affect the whole country, such as international relations, immigration, criminal law, national defense, and foreign policy.
